Research Project

Action Research Documentation:

All Edgewood education programs leading to a Master’s degree include participation in an action research project in a school setting appropriate to the level and type of professional role. In order to emphasize the preparation of reflective practitioners for effective schools, students select areas of project emphasis that interest them and respond to needs within the practicum setting. Under guidance of an experienced educator and with developmental assessment from a college supervisor, advanced students are mentored in a full range of professional tasks related to their area of advanced professional development. Both the cooperating school professional and the college supervisor complete final evaluations of the field experience; both evaluations become part of the student’s permanent record. Specifics related to the Action Research Project include the following:

A. Action Research Proposal: Either meet with your major professor or submit a one page proposal for an action research project to your (advisor) action research project professor at an appropriate early date. The proposal should include a description of the project, a rationale for choosing the project’s topic of theme, a brief description of the research approach, and a time line for completing the project.

B. Action Research Project: A key component of the graduate experience the action research project which focuses on a specific need or interest within the education setting. Students are required to identify and purse preparation of a report using the following format:
