Undergraduate What's New Undergraduate About

There are two nationally standardized assessments required for licensing. Be aware that those thests are very important in decision making as you transition through the Edgewod College program. They should be taken seriously, and you should prepare for them carefully.

The two tests are PRAXIS I and PRAXIS II. Results of these tests are part of the Edgewood College assessment system for initial educator licensing.

PRAXIS I measures basic proficiency in reading, writing, and mathematics. There are two versions: The Pre-Professional Skills Tests (PPST), a paper-and-pencil test, and the
Computerized Pre-Professional Skills Tests (CPPST). You may take either version.

On either version, the passing scores for Wisconsin are:
Reading 175
Writing 174
Mathematics 173

PRAXIS I tests have been normed on high school students. So in cases where one has
demonstrated a strong capability in reading, writing, and mathematics in high school, a high school senior could take and perform successfully on the tests. Edgewood College offers an early confirmation of admission to teacher education at the preliminary level to high school students entering Edgewood College with passing scores on all PPST tests.

For PRAXIS I, if one or more of a candidate's scores are not passing on first take, the
candidate may request information about options for preparation and accommodations before additional takes; after specific preparation or accommodations have been arranged, only two more takes

PRAXIS II measures basic proficiency in subject areas or speciality areas. PRAXIS II
assessments should not be taken until sufficient course work, study, and other preparations have been completed.

There are no alternatives to passing the PRAXIS II at the present time.

There is no waiver from taking PRAXIS I and PRAXIS II.
