*This course requires additional hours, as seen above for practicum involvement.
The required practicum for this class is a pre college experience, which is a one day overnight
experience for students in the Cutting Edge Program.
Course Description:
Introduction to the understanding of behavioral disorders in children and youth.
Topics include the nature of deviance and behavioral variation;
the classification and characteristics of emotional disorders; the environmental,
social, and psychobiological factors related to these disorders;
and educational and therapeutic treatment alternatives

Instructional Methodology:
Class instruction will be a combination of practicum lecture-discussion and
student participation through the use of videotapes, small group activities,
assigned projects and individual testing.
